The Mocha Girls and I were so proud of our 2012 calendar. Like our 3rd album, the concept was to pay tribute to Filipino women. Filipinas are considered as among the most beautiful women of the world. They are the “ideal woman”of most men because of their extraordinary beauty and attitude. Filipinas are family-oriented and will strive hard to keep her family intact. Our country is a nation of strong women.
To show some PINAY pride, we decided to use the Philippine Flag symbols as body paint for our calendar. Apparently, once again, this caught the attention of the NHI (National Historical Institute). An official said we were setting a bad example to the youth because we’re TOO SEXY.
Bad example? It really pisses me off every time I hear this accusation from hypocrites. We may be sexy but we are NOT promoting sex. We are promoting SAFE SEX. We are educating the youth to protect themselves. That it’s OK to use condom contrary to what the church says. Sex EXISTS and it’s more STUPID not to talk about it. One of my followers tweeted me and he said that the priests are preaching that masturbation is a sin. Of course it’s NOT! It’s a natural sexual behavior! Everyone does it, including our priests! Masturbation or solo sex is the safest form of sex. If you don’t like it, then stop it. In order for the youth to be guided accordingly about their sexuality, there should be a separation of church and sex. We need CREDIBLE Professional Sexuality Educators! Attention Mr. President! Stop “NOYNOYING” and Pass the RH BILL NOW before it’s too late!

It’s a sad fact that here lies the confusion as to where people should draw the line that separates church from state. Point of views on culture-religion-politics will always rub against each other. Preachers have their bibles. Politicians have their constitutions. We have to exercise our rights to democracy. I look up to your advocacies Mocha, just get on with it. Safe sex for good health and family planning. Your music and fashion, you should be able to express freely. The key take-away here is to end everyday knowing that you’ve done your purpose of entertaining and educating.

I guess NHR made their point. But Pacquiao should also be prosecuted because using the PH flag in any forms of display is a violation. I think they are overreacting because they’ve seen the flag at Mocha’s tits.

Nirerespeto naman ang bandila, in fact, the mocha girls promoted it and proudly wore it. Sa totoo lang, sa mata ng karamihan ng mga dayuhan it’s really good thing. Ang mga Filipinos karamihan ang nagbibigay ng masamang image sa ginawa ng mocha girls. Me, as a Filipina am proud na kababayan ko ang mocha girls. Kung naiintindihan lang ng lahat ng mga Filipinos ang advocacies ng mocha girls, sana may pagbabago.

I love the body paint and unique way to show our countrys pride. Filipina women are unque individuals and are strong minded and strong willed. As a filipino born and raised in the states, I show much respect and support to all filipinos representing our pride in all aspects of life, including the filipinas out there!!!
Sex is a part of life. We need to be more knowledgeable and be responsible to ourselves and to others when we engage such pleasures. The better we know in life, the better we are as individuals.

The true Filipina as described by Rizal in his is NOT the Maria Clara character. Maria Clara (if you’re going to read between Rizal’s line) is the picture of weakness. A helpless person.

I felt the concept was quite unique.. I just wonder why people are placing a lot of criticism upon the group(Mocha Girls). If we are going to look upon history, king of pinoy rap use the emblem of the Philippine flag as a sign of patriotism in his crafts from tattoo & tshirt print. I see that there is no difference between this two stuff, it just happen that Philippine women are consider to be the conservative type but we considered nowadays empowerment. More power on you girls.
